EDEXCEL Entry Level Certificate in Life Skills : Citizenship & Community Studies

Employment Studies

We join the Employment Studies group in our final year at Petty Pool. During the year we look at all of the future options available to us when we leave college.

We are supported in considering the various options available in our local area. This could be supported employment, voluntary work, college, day services or a number of these options. Most of us have a work placement in our final year that suits our future career aims.

We also consider different types of housing. Many of us want to live independently, with friends or on our own. We find out who can help us achieve this goal and visit different housing options, to see what would suit us best.

“Support for students is outstanding. It is delivered through a culture which values the dignity and status of students.”

Ofsted

In this very important final year at Petty Pool College, we are always very proud to watch the growing maturity of our learners as they move onto employment and independent living.
The college maintains close links with other services that can support our students through their transition, including Job Centre Plus, Social Services, Connexions and Supported Employment Agencies.
Petty Pool is very lucky to have a dedicated Employment Officer who works with our students in finding them suitable work experience placements and hopefully paid employment. We also are able to offer one to one travel training, so that students can access the workplace independently.
