Colin Cook’s journey with Petty Pool began with a dream in 1981, when he established the Mid Cheshire Sheltered Workshop. His vision transcended the conventional boundaries of education and employment, aiming to create an inclusive environment where individuals with learning difficulties could thrive.
Under his leadership, Petty Pool has evolved into a trust that encompasses the Petty Pool Vocational College, which currently supports over 110 students on their journey to uncover their potential. Colin believed in the power of education as a tool for personal growth.
Colin’s vision has left a lasting legacy, reflected in our successful charity programs, such as the Outdoor Education Centre, which serves over 4,200 local children each year.
His commitment to creating opportunities for young people is still evident today in our Petty Pool in the Community service, which is open to people with learning disabilities and difficulties outside education and provides opportunities for community activities, independent living skills, travel training and team building and social skills.
Colin’s dream of empowering individuals has flourished into a vibrant community that continues to grow and adapt to the needs of those we serve.
